JCI&R serves as a contact point and entry point for both Jews and the general public. Provides personalized assistance and a Jewish connection to communities in the Bay Area, the United States, Israel, and the Diaspora. JCI&R connects callers to programs, activities, community services, volunteer opportunities, organizations, synagogues, Jewish education and culture, holidays and special needs. JCI&R operates the Volunteer Placement Project, matching prospective volunteers with available volunteer positions in Jewish agencies and organizations, and Chai Baby!, an outreach program to welcome newborns and newly adopted babies and their families into our Jewish community.

Project Welcome is an outreach program welcoming interfaith families, unaffiliated Jews and seekers into Independent, Renewal, Reconstructionist, Reform and Conservative synagogues. By working closely with synagogue professionals and volunteers, Project Welcome creates a network of welcoming workshops while encouraging the changes of synagogue culture that will support and integrate those welcomed by the workshops.
