We’ve Unveiled The Mothers Circle Cookbook!

Last night we hosted our annual tribute evening, in which we honored both Meryl Frank and The Mothers Circle for their empowerment of women and their work at breaking down barriers in Jewish life. As part of the tribute, JOI Executive Director Rabbi Kerry Olitzky presented Mothers Circle alumna Liddy Doyle with the first copy of The Mothers Circle Cookbook, a one-of-a-kind cookbook written by and for interfaith families. The recipes included highlight some of what these women have learned about Jewish cooking as well as the warmth and passion they have for the Jewish community.

The cookbook was developed exclusively by Mothers Circle participants. It features almost 30 recipes ranging from challah, roast chicken and brisket to macaroni and cheese and turkey chili. As Liz Hendler, a Mothers Circle alumna and member of the cookbook’s editorial committee, writes in the introduction to the cookbook:

We hope this little cookbook does three things. First, we hope it highlights the commitment and diversity that Mothers Circle participants bring to the larger Jewish community. We also hope it helps to support the compelling and uplifting programming and presence of JOI. And selfishly, we hope it gives us the answer next time we are asked to “bring a little something” to a Passover seder!

We thank the editorial committee for their hard work on the cookbook and all of The Mothers Circle participants whose recipes give the cookbook its unique flavor.

The cookbook is available for purchase in hard copy and can be downloaded online for free. Please Click Here for more information about purchasing or downloading the cookbook. All proceeds from the cookbook will support The Mothers Circle and the development of other inclusive programs for people touched by intermarriage. Thank you!
