Beth El Synagogue

Partnered with the local Jewish Federation, we have an active welcoming effort where we have current active congregants welcome newcomers to the community with personal contact to welcome them to Omaha. All our congregation’s services, classes, programs and events are open to the community. We make no distinction between unaffiliated and/or intermarried. At no point do we ‘pull the plug’ on participation and require membership. We require no tickets or even membership affiliation to attend High Holiday services. Our programs are offered in a non-threatening, learning environment and most require no prior knowledge to participate. Additionally, throughout the year, we offer many programs at minimal cost or free. We have also frequently partnered with Temple Israel, the local reform congregation, as well as many of the agencies of the Jewish Federation in offering programs for various target age groups in the community. We also offer an annual TuB’Shevat program at our local city’s Botanical Gardens that is open to the entire community, free-of-charge during the event. These are just a few of the examples of how we follow the principals of Big Tent Judaism.
